Life Science Building (1920)

Photograph of Life Science Building. The original portion of the building was designed by Ramm Hansen.32 In early 1918, as the building was under construction, it was roofed over and used for temporary housing for soldiers during WWI as there was a cooperative agreement between the Army and the University to house military personnel during the war.6 p.19 Although its original use was as temporary housing, it was built with the intention of becoming the Industrial Building after WWI.6 p.19 After the war however, it was decided that this building would be used as the Medical School and to use the Normal Building (building 008) as the Industrial Building.5 p.358 In 1939 a four story addition was put on the south end.31 9-27-39 p.1 Conflicting sources suggest the addition was added in 1934.5 p.316 It was being called the Medical Building in 1959.29 In 1970 two cement stairwells were added on the north and south ends.32 In 1989 it was used for research and instruction.4
