Naval Science Building (1946)

Photograph of Naval Science Building. This building and buildings 042 & 044 were the only three permanent structures erected on campus in the 1940s. The State Board of Regents Authorized the construction of this facility for the Navy ROTC in 1945 at a cost of $200,000.19, 31 9-20-45 It was designed by A.B. Paulson and the contractors were Christensen Brothers.23, 32, 31 9-20-45 Ground was broken in the fall of 1945 and construction was well underway by the summer of 1946. 6 p.78, 19 By June 30, 1947 the NROTC building was in use with "five-inch and three-inch naval guns, 40mm and 20mm training weapons, torpedoes, range and direction finders".31 6-30-47 In 1989 it was used for institutional support and academic support and was called the Naval Science Building.4
