Virginia Tanner Dance (1941)

Photograph of Virginia Tanner Dance. In 1972, this building was constructed from two buildings, 401 & 410, that were previously on "The Church Triangle," south of the Jon Huntsman Special Events Center.7, 26 Both structures were acquired by the University of Utah in 1948.4, 18 The North portion (410) was originally a one story frame theater for the Army, while the South portion (401) had been a one story frame administration building.7, 26 In 1950 the South portion was being used by the Department of Sociology and the North portion was being used by the Department of Music and Symphony.10 In 1959 the South portion was listed as "Vacant (temporary stor. - Prop. Acct)" and the North portion was listed as "Music (vacant soon)".29 Since being moved to the current site in 1972, the combined structure has been used as dance studios.4, 26
