Math Office Building (circa 1917) The exact place of origin of this building is not certain. It differs from the other frame buildings in this area in that it was already in place in 1930.10 It also has dimensions and fenestration patterns that differ significantly from known WWII structures and it appears to have been built using a different construction method. It may be that it is one of the temporary structures built during World War I although there is conflicting evidence.6, This wood frame building has had many uses over the years. It shows up on a map revised in 1939 as the Plumbing Shop. On this same map, the Ore Dressing Lab, reported to be the last WWI building on campus, has been crossed out.6, In 1947 it was a plumbing building for Buildings and Grounds, in 1949 it was used as a Physics Photographic Research lab, and in 1967 it was assigned to the Geophysical Sciences Department to be used for Geophysics.25, 26 For at least a year (June 1971 to June 1972) the building was vacant because of its poor condition.25, 26 In 1974 it was remodeled to be the Mathematics Teaching Assistants Building, some portion of the time in 1975-76 it was used for Geophysics Research, and in 1976 it became temporary offices.25, 26 Between the years of 1980 and 1987 it was the Communication Interaction Lab and from 1988 to the present it has been the Math Office Building.4
