Math Office/Physics (1942)

Photograph of 	Math Office/Physics. This is one of several "temporary" buildings that was moved from either Dugway, Kearns, or the Airbase in 1946 to the University of Utah to help alleviate the enrollment growth due to the end of WWII.5 It was placed east of the Physical Science Building (009) and used as a chemistry lab and office building.31 9-29-47, 5 The building was remodeled for those first University uses in 1947 by Woods and Woods, architects.32 It has had many functions over the years including having many types of research labs: Optics Lab, Glass Blowing Lab, Physical Chemistry Lab, Nuclear Research Lab, Radioactivity Lab and others. It was the Physical Science Annex before being officially named Journalism in 1971 and the College of Science again used the building in 1979, but only occupied the second floor.25, 28 It housed Journalism and Mass Communication in 1985 and in 1989 it was used for academic support and instruction and was known as the Math Tutorial and Communication Labs.4, 18
