Buildings & Grounds (1944) Designed by the U.S. Engineering Office, this was originally a motor repair shop for the Army that repaired, among other things, tanks.7, 32 It was first built in 1942, but was destroyed by fire in 1943 and rebuilt in 1944.7 In 1947 it was deeded to the National Guard.10 It was acquired by the University of Utah in 1968 and was used by General Services (Transportation & Grounds) in 1985.4, 11, 18 There was a smooth transition between owners of this building because it has been used for essentially the same purpose by each institution.
