Originally a gas meter house for the Army, it was acquired by the University of Utah in 1947.4, 7, 26 It has had many storage functions over the years including Chemistry and Biochemistry in 1959, Geology storage from 1969 to at least 1985, and research storage in 1989.4, 18, 25, 29
