Parking Services (1942)
Designed by the U.S. Engineers Office, originally Bachelor Officer's Quarters and Mess for the Army, and one of the support buildings for the Reception Center as discussed in the overview, this building was acquired by the University of Utah in 1947.4, 7, 10, 32 It was Douglas Dorm a men's dorm in 1950 and remained so as late as 1959.6 Although the records are unclear, it appears that this building was one of four barracks from Fort Douglas that was used to house male students starting in 1947.6 It was a Research Park office and Nursing College Building prior to 1977, housed the Medical Center Architects in 1989, and has been Parking Services since 1985.4, 10, 18, 26, 29
