Building #505 (1941) This structure, originally a barrack for 63 men for the Army and one of the support buildings for the Reception Center as discussed in the overview, was acquired by the University of Utah in 1947.4 In 1950 it housed the Department of Air Science.10 It was moved from the NE corner of "The Church Triangle," south of the Jon Huntsman Special Events Center, circa 1959.7, 26 At that time it housed Psychology and some Air Force.29 In 1970 a 10-wheeled Army truck stalled going up a hill near this building. The inexperienced driver couldn't stop the truck and it went down the hill crashing into the southeast corner of the building. New large windows were put into place and repairs were made by the professor of Architectural Psychology, Dr. Cal Taylor, and his students. He was allowed to make the repairs and use the new construction as part of his research and as a practical example of the use of light and windows to make an area more pleasant to occupy. (This story is from an interview with Randy Turpin.) The building's use history has varied from being Architectural Psychology in the 1950s (possibly until 1972) to being Geophysics at some time prior to 1976 at which time it was renamed Psychology Research.26 It was still Psychology Research as late as 1989.4
