School of Medicine Research Building #511 (1942)

Photograph of 	School of Medicine Research Building #511. This original barrack for the Army's Medical Department was designed by the U.S. Engineers Office.7 After being acquired by the University of Utah in 1948, it housed various types of medical research. In 1949 it housed polio research which included the housing of hundreds of monkeys.1, 31 9-26-49, In 1959 it was the Bacteriology Animal Lab, in 1961 it was Polio Research & Biochemistry, 1969 saw it being used by the Department of Physical Plant and Operations, and from 1976 to about 1989 it was the Microbiology / Physiology Building.4, 17, 18, 25, 26, 29
