Storage Building #513 (1941)

Photograph of Storage Building #513. The building had been connected like 507 and 508 and the removal of the connection greatly altered its architectural integrity. All of the buildings in this area were connected by such corridors prior to 1991. Acquired by the University of Utah in 1948, this was originally a ward for the Army hospital.4, 7 In 1961 it was a High Velocity Laboratory for Electrical Engineering. As early as 1976 it was the Mailing Bureau and in 1978 it was also used for storage for Health Science.25, 26 It housed the Mail Bureau and University Press in 1985 and in 1989 it was a storage building.4, 18 Currently (1997), it is the Paint Shop et al. There is a large concrete pipe attached to the north end of this building that has been used as a radioactive lab. The exact dates of this use are uncertain. However, in 1968 a portion of it was assigned to the Department of Anatomy to be used as storage.25 It is currently (1997) used for storage by the Paint Shop.
